Official announcer voice:

Blogs + Infinity Dreams Award (Again)

blogoversary3

Good morning, roadlings!

Aaaand here we are, at the very last tag post of the month! On Friday I’ll be wrapping up this blog party with all the giveaway winners and links and such. I can’t believe it’s almost over!

(You can still enter all three giveaways for the nine separate prizes until midnight Central time Sept. 29, so if you missed out, hop on over there! ~ Writing Giveaway | Past/Present/Future Book Giveaway | Lord of the Rings Giveaway ~)

Anyhow, I have two tags actually today, so I shall proceed to go through those to finish the tag part of this month’s celebration!

Lovely authoress/blogger Shantelle Hannu @ A Writer’s Heart tagged me a few centuries ago (a.k.a. January) for the Infinity Dreams Award! Thanks, Shantelle! ^_^ (Everyone go check out her blog because it’s awesome and she is a thoroughly lovely person. ❤ She also currently has a blog series going every Monday called Hidden Gems: Authors You Need To Discover, and it has interviews and giveaways and is a lot of fun, so check it out! :))

I’ve done this tag before but am doing it again because fun questions, yay! (I’m really bad at coming up with 11 facts about myself, soo… as per usual, I’m just doing the questions… And, again, not tagging anyone specific, but feel free to consider yourself tagged if it looks fun!)

How many books do you hope to read this year?

Well… my “official” goal is 60 on Goodreads… which I managed to accomplish this month! *partying* But I’d like to read at least 75 if I can.

What’s your favorite song?

Never-Ending Road by Loreena McKennitt and Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey.

What’s your least favorite holiday?

I don’t think I have a least-favorite… I know a lot of people who get depressed over Valentine’s Day so maybe that one; but then again there are the chocolate sales after…

Why do you blog?

I started because I wanted to start a sort of online presence for my writerly self, but I blog now because I can’t help it and I just love sharing things and talking with all you lovely commenters and… I don’t know! It’s just fun and I love it. 🙂

It’s silly, but I still get really excited seeing a blog post take shape… I think it out and write it and put it together with some pictures and links and things, and then I post it and… it’s so shiny and finished and it makes me happy. (Please tell me I’m not insane. >.> Oh, wait, too late. :P)

Favorite dessert?

Chocolate cake! Preferably a moist heavy one with frabjous frosting. Yum. I pretty much like most things that are a) chocolate, or b) mint-ish, or c) lemon if it’s the right kind and nice and sweet.

One movie coming out in 2016 2017 you want to watch?

Um. Since this year is almost over, I’m going to change it to 2017 and say BEAUTY AND THE BEAST! 😀

Some books set for 2016 releases you want to read?

Ones that haven’t come out yet that I’m excited about are Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo (sequel to Six of Crows), An Earthly King by Hazel B. West (sequel to Blood Ties), and The Silent Songbird by Melanie Dickerson (final Hagenheim book).

What historical era intrigues you most?

I like medieval times but usually in a fantasy-world setting… the 1700s is usually my favorite actual-history time-period (muskets and tricorn hats and coats!), though I’d be really interested to see the Celtic cultures back wayyy long ago since so much of the Celts’ history has been lost/destroyed and I’d like to know how it really was, not how people now hypothesize that it was.

Where would you love to visit?

The British Isles! Ireland and Scotland and all of it. ❤

What things inspire you to write/blog?

I don’t know! o.o Things just… come to me. And then I write them. Or blog about them. I guess my ever-active brain is always finding things to mull over… It can be exhausting at times! (Especially at 2 a.m. when I’m STILL trying to fall asleep and my brain is like “nope, too many interesting things to think about”. XD)

Some of your favorite blogs?

Since this is the last question of the Infinity Dreams part of this post, I’m going to take the opportunity to switch over to another tag here to answer this question. A tag… within a tag? Gotcha!

Mary @ Sunshine & Scribblings, and Jenelle Schmidt, both tagged me for the Blogging About Blogs Tag (here & here are their posts, if you’d like to see their own picks!), so I’m lumping that one in this post too, since we’re on the subject of blogs! Thanks very much to both of you!! ❤

Blogging About Blogs Tag

I always hate doing things like this, since I just KNOW I’ll accidentally leave some awesome people out of the list… But I thought I would do it anyway, to share the love for a few at least. So this is by no means a comprehensive list, and I love many more blogs that I don’t have time to list (please don’t feel bad if you’re not on here! If I comment at all on your blog, it means I love it too!) — these are just a few that fit the specific categories. 🙂

The Rules

  • Thank the person who tagged you
  • Answer the questions
  • Tag some blogging friends

THE QUESTIONS

Blog that makes me laugh

Cait’s Paper Fury, and Of Words and Books by Ness Kingsley.

Blog that makes me think

Mirriam’s Wishful Thinking (I mean, it has thinking in the title…)

Blog that teaches me things

I can think of way too many, which does not help… so I’ll say Adventure Awaits by Tracey.

Blog with beautiful headers

I know there are so many! I’m drawing a blank because my brain is tired, but off the top of my head, Savannah’s Scattered Scribblings (which recently became a public blog! So go follow it!) and E. Rawls’ blog.

Blogger who takes great pictures

I instantly thought of Christine @ Musings of an Elf and Cait @ Paper Fury. I could stare at their photos all day. ❤

Blogger whose recommendations I trust

Definitely Jenelle Schmidt, Christine @ Musings of an Elf, and Sarah @ Light & Shadows. They have excellent taste. 😉

New blog I’m enjoying

I can’t think of a new one so I’ll just mention a couple I enjoy that I haven’t mentioned yet: A Writer’s Heart by Shantelle and Ink Castles by Skye.

Blog I’ve followed the longest

Of the ones that are still going, probably Mirriam’s Wishful Thinking.

Blog I’ve started following the most recently

InkSplatteredPages — Skye’s new book blog! It just started and I’m excited to read it. 🙂

Blog that is always a refreshing happiness

Short and Snappy by Madeline, and Sunshine and Scribbling by Mary.

Blog where I revel in the words

Adventure Awaits by Tracey and Musings of an Elf by Christine come to mind… 🙂

***

I know I’m missing some great blogs… but those are a few that I enjoy! 🙂

Consider yourself tagged for either the Blogging About Blogs or Infinity Dream Award (or both!) if you want to do it, or just answer some of the questions in the comments if you like! Do you have a favorite blog to recommend to me? And I hope you’ve enjoyed all these tag posts! 🙂

Lovely Sunshine Dreams

lovelysunshinedream

Today you are in for a list of facts about me, and some questions posed to me by the fabulous Tracey! More on that in a minute…

I’m rolling a couple of things together for the facts… because four different people tagged me for two different tags where you list a number of facts about yourself… which would equal that number times 4, and I can’t come up with that many. XD So, rolled into one it shall be…

03-one-lovely-blog-award-badge

I was given the One Lovely Blog Award by Purple Dragon Writing and again by Jenelle Schmidt. Thank you both so much! ❤

sunshinex2

And I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by Sarah @ Light & Shadows and Victoria @ A Gathering of Dreams (actually at the same time as the Favorite Villains tag, which I did awhile back, but didn’t get around to this half of until now). Many thanks!

Check out aaaall 4 blogs at once, please! I COMMAND IT. Cuz they’re awesome. ^_^

And I’m doing 12 facts about me (if I can come up with that many… *sweats*) because I like that number and arbitrarily decided to use it. *nods*

A Dozen Facts About Yours Truly (that’s me)

  1. My favorite color is a forest/emerald green, though I’ve recently become quite fond of light blue as well. (I’m sure you couldn’t tell that from my recent blog re-design. *cough*)
  2. I have blog posts for this blog planned out for the rest of the year! I feel specially on top of things. ^_^
  3. …It is extremely rare for me to feel on top of things. 😛 (Don’t worry, it won’t happen again. *cough*)
  4. I own a viking helmet, which is handy for NaNo writing events, and also for being a Small Home Repair Viking (in the words of Hiccup).
  5. On that note, every time I do a little repair job around the house like fix a doorknob or something, I call myself a Small Home Repair Viking. (That was extremely random…)
  6. In case you didn’t know, I am a short person in a world of tall people (see “small” above). Like 5′ 1” or 5′ 2”? I haven’t measured in awhile.
  7. Quotes! I love quotes. I quote movies and books (and even gifs and memes!) a lot in real life. Inside references are cool. ^_^ (As are bowties?)
  8. onedoesnotsimply12factsCase in point: One does not simply come up with 12 facts about oneself. Ahem. (I made this one. I couldn’t help it.)
  9. As I’m sure I’ve mentioned before, I’m an introvert. But most people don’t believe that because I’m talkative when I get together with people, and I am rather enthusiastic online. (I! 🙂 Blame! ^_^ The! 😀 Exclamation! 😛 Points!!! And! XD Emoticons! O_O And! :O CAPS! c: LOCK! .-.)
  10. Seriously though, introvert. The fear of talking with people (Waiters! Phone calls! Doorbells! Oh, horror!) is real. *scurries away to hide behind a tapestry for 94 years*
  11. I do my best (read: most dramatic/epic, and/or funny/crazy) writing late at night. Some of my favorite scenes (especially involving Tare, who’s a natural night-owl) and must amusing (I hope?) blog posts were written late at night. My brain apparently turns on full crazy inspiration mode when I want to be asleep.
  12. It took me a ridiculously long amount of time to come up with these facts. Remind me never to do it again. XD

infinity dreams award 2

Aaand I’m also doing an Infinity Dreams Award tag from Tracey @ Adventure Awaits. Thanks so much, Tracey! ❤ (Everyone, go check out her simply delightful blog at once, do you hear? You won’t regret it.)

I’m not doing a vlog for this one, sorry. XD And I’m kinda-sorta just answering the questions, since I already did some facts up there. *nods*

Rules: 11 facts, 11 questions, 11 nominees

Infinity Dreams Award Questions

What’s your current favorite song?

Tell Your Heart to Beat Again by Danny Gokey… and has been all year so far. 😉

In the context of either reading or writing (or both): do you prefer standalones or series?

I usually prefer standalones, but I can get into series if I love it enough.

Case in point: Most of my stories are standalones, but the ones I get addicted to, or have a side character who wants a spinoff novel, tend to turn into series: Starrellia, Kedran’s Wood, Heartseeker/Heartsinger, and Underground Rainbow/Painting Rainbows. But the rest are standalones… and believe me, there’s a LOT of them. 😉

As for reading, I like standalones because then I don’t feel like I have to read a lot more all at once… but if I’m enjoying a book enough, I’ll want it to have a sequel or three, if that makes sense.

Have you ever met a book or movie character who was a lot like you? If so, who?

Nope. Unless Tare (minus his awesomeness and the fact that he’s a guy) counts. XD

And I’m not like her, but I want to be like Wilhelmina from The Bright Empires series by Stephen R. Lawhead (of which I’ve thus far read The Skin Map and The Bone House). She’s amazing. ❤

What’s your biggest pet peeve as a reader?

Unhappy endings; tied with characters I love dying. Nope, nope and NOPE.

Favorite meal: breakfast, lunch, or supper?

Supper, except that we call it dinner around here…

What’s been inspiring you this week?

Music for my works in progress. ❤

What does a perfect day look like for you?

An uninterrupted spread of time in which I have nothing I’m obligated to do, and can spend the entire time curled up reading a good book or two and typing away with loads of inspiration (and maybe some good music and a hot chocolate) to write a few scenes of a story. Yummy meals of sausage, ABC (Apple, Bacon, Cheese) sandwiches and Fettuccine Alfredo or Tortellini may be involved too.

OR spend the day at a library or bookstore. *nods*

If the world was flat, and you came to the edge of it, what would you like to find there?

Hum. Either a sea of chocolate (can you tell I’m hungry while I’m writing this?), or else the edge of the world dropping out into the velvety black of space sprinkled with the shining diamonds of stars, in which you could float off the edge of the world and drift among the stars (which would look like Silmarils) with none of that boring science-y stuff about no oxygen and planets and stuff. 😛

If you could tell your younger self one thing, what would it be?

Learn not to procrastinate, please.

With what word would you like others to describe you?

I… have no idea. >.> *shuffles nervously*

What’s one book that changed your life?

I’m picking three, please and thank you. 😉 The Bible, The Lord of the Rings, and Howl’s Moving Castle.

blogoversary3

What do you think? Feel free to snag the questions if you like, either on your blog or in the comments! ^_^ You are tagged if you wish!

Also, if you could describe me in one word, what would it be? I’m curious. XD

Favorite Things + Happiness Tag

Two similar tags today — the Tag of Happiness and These are a Few of My Favorite Things Tag. It’s all about happy favorites. ^_^ And LISTS! (Because lists.)

Obviously, this post is by no means an exhaustive list of my favorites/things that make me happy. XD Just whatever I thought of off the top of my head. *nods*

These Are a Few of My Favorite Things Tag

I was tagged by Shantelle @ A Writer’s Heart for These Are a Few of My Favorite Things Tag — thanks Shantelle! ^_^ (Everyone check out her lovely blog, do!)

The rules are: (1) Write down ten of my favorite things, and (2) Tag at least three others.

(These may be all bookish/writerly. Just warning you. *coughcough*)

10 of My Favorite Things (which make me happy)

  1. That feeling you get when you spot a book at a library sale that you’ve been wanting to read.
  2. The hushed quiet inner energy of delight and wonder at all the awaiting worlds of books you feel when you step into a bookstore or library.
  3. Writing the last sentence of a story.
  4. Reorganizing my bookshelves.
  5. Starting a new journal or notebook (extra points if it’s with a new pen!).
  6. NaNoWriMo. (It also makes me despairing and panicky and insane, but happy is probably the dominating factor. Most of the time. So… yeah. A favorite. :))
  7. Playing with book lists etc. on Goodreads.
  8. Blogging.
  9. The little rush of buzzing fuzzy-feeling of happy excitement when someone comments on my blog. ^_^
  10. Getting book mail in the mail.  ❤

Lord of the Rings Giveaway + LOTR Tag

blogoversary3

Oh, is it not Friday? Surprise! You get this giveaway post a day early because it’s a SPECIAL DAY. But I’m also doing an extra tag today as well.

Today being Bilbo’s and Frodo’s birthday (happy birthday!), it’s a Lord of the Rings themed giveaway, naturally!

But first I’m also doing a bonus tag (LOTR themed of course) because I saw it on Pinterest (originally from Tumblr I believe) and thought it would be fun, so I couldn’t resist doing it today. 🙂

LOTR Tag

It seems to be more movie- than book-oriented, but hey, I’ll give it a shot all the same. 😉 Answers are some inconsistent mix of movie/book answers.

  1. lotrcollage1Favorite Film — The Return of the King. So much epic and amazingness, not to mention the incredible music. ❤
  2. Favorite Battle — Um. Not sure. Tie between Helm’s Deep and the Pelennor Fields I guess?
  3. Favorite Character — Faramir. He’s the best. ❤ (We will NOT talk about how his character was ruined in The Two Towers movie… though I still love him in the movies, just… it’s atrocious how they changed him.)
  4. Scene That Makes You Cry — Boromir’s death. *sniffle*
  5. Scene That Makes You Laugh — “Shall I describe it to you? Or would you like me to find you a box?”
  6. Ugliest Orc — All of them.
  7. Favorite Antagonist — WHAT EVEN DOES THIS MEAN? Gollum, maybe?
  8. Gondor or Rohan — Rohan I guess. I love their culture and horses and green fields and Fangorn forest.
  9. Favorite Hobbit — Merry! He’s just so fun and awesome and the best. (Or Bilbo if we’re talking about the Hobbit movies, because Martin Freeman as Bilbo is perfection.)
  10. lotrcollage2OTP (translation: One True Pairing, a.k.a. favorite romantic couple) — Faramir and Eowyn. They’re my precious. ❤
  11. BROTP (translation: favorite best-friend brotherly friendship) — In the book: Aragorn and Eomer maybe? In the movie, Aragorn and Legolas and Gimli as a threesome.
  12. Favorite Location — Rivendell, maybe? I’d love to vacation there… or Lothlorien… or anywhere.
  13. Favorite Weapon — You can’t go wrong with Legolas’s bow & arrows.
  14. Favorite Outfit — Eowyn’s white dress, or maybe her green one, or Arwen’s red/black dress… and an Elven cloak too, please!
  15. Favorite Armor — Faramir’s white tree of Gondor leather armor.
  16. Favorite Female Character — Eowyn. She’s fabulous.
  17. Elves or Dwarves? — Elves. They’re splendid. ^_^
  18. Coolest Visual Effect — I’m rather fond of Legolas jumping up onto his horse when they’re riding against the wargs in The Two Towers. 😉
  19. Weirdest Screencap — I… don’t even know.
  20. Saddest Character Death — Thorin in the movie. D:
  21. Most Inspiring Moment — Both times the Rohirrim show up over a ridge at sunrise to save the day against the forces of evil; also Sam’s “I can’t carry it for you — but I can carry you!” And so many others. ❤
  22. Character You Pity Most — Gollum.
  23. Least Favorite Character — Denethor. He is… not a nice person. <.< Ugh.
  24. Scariest Moment — Everything with the Black Riders in the first movie.
  25. lotrcollage3Favorite Quote — “All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”
  26. Favorite Larger-Than-Life Foe — Does this mean scariest? In which case the Witch-King of Angmar a.k.a. leader of the Black Riders.
  27. Isengard or Mordor? — Hmm… Isengard, because it’s not as scary and the tower of Orthanc looks nicer. Pretty spikes and no fiery red eyeball at the top. *nods*
  28. Ents or Eagles — BOTH. (We will also not talk about how they ruined the Ents in the movies or how the Eagles didn’t talk. >.> AHEM.)
  29. Your LOTR Collection — You can see the stack of my books here, anyway…
  30. How You Got Into LOTR — I talked about it in this post for the 62nd birthday of LOTR a couple months ago… But it started with reading The Hobbit when I was hobbit-sized myself, and then listening to the Lord of the Rings audiobooks. The rest is history. *nods*

8tolkienquote

A second winner will win this art print of one of my favorite quotes from The Fellowship of the Ring (“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” — yes, that’s the book wording, not the movie one. *cough*), handlettered in blue calligraphy and gold pen by yours-truly.

9dragontat

And for the third winner… I was given some Smaug/dragon temporary tattoos once, which I have not used but figured someone out there might like, so I’m offering them as the third prize of this giveaway. 🙂
