“You’d think no one had ever had a cold before”

Possibly the only good thing about having a cold: remembering that Howl had one, and going back to reread all the snatches of Howl’s Moving Castle where he had a cold.

In the words of Diana Wynne Jones, the author, herself, Howl’s “a man who had head colds like a drama queen.”

It’s glorious. (I love Howl a ton, okay.)

I’m in a constant state of wanting to reread that book. ❤ (Howl’s Moving Castle does after all tie The Lord of the Rings for the honored “favorite book” spot for me…)

And yes, I am indeed using my cold as an excuse to unashamedly fangirl over Howl and make graphics of quotes from my favorite book, why do you ask…?

  1. Awww, so sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well 😦 Being sick is no fun at all. (The only thing worse than that is taking a three-part geometry final–as I have come to learn :P) Whenever I’m sick, I use my illness as an excuse to throw a Lord of the Rings marathon. Not like I need an excuse, but ya know. LotR can cure anything 😉

    Hope you feel better soon!!!

    • Thanks, Mary! It’s only a minor cold and I’m starting to feel better. (Ouch, a three-part geometry final sounds worse indeed! o.o I hope you survived!) YES, a LotR marathon is a fabulous idea. 😀

      THANKS! ❤

  2. My reaction to a cold (or any other miserable-but-non-life-threatening illness): quote Howl miserably on social media. By which I mean certain forums.
Hey. It makes me feel better. Sort of.
    Hope you get better soon!

  3. I soooo hate you’re sick but THIS POST!!!! I may have squealed a little when I saw the title because I KNEW what you were quoting. AND THEN ALL THE QUOTES AND GRAPHICS. I just want to take all these graphics and stare at them forever and ever. The scene where Howl is sick may be the best part in the whole book. And, well, that’s saying a lot being as how every single sentence of that book is perfect.

GET WELL SOOOON!!! I would hunt Howl down and demand he heal you but as we all know…there IS no cure to a cold.

    • You “understood that reference!” XD THANK YOU. And yes, I just loooove the scene, and YES like every single sentence is perfect. 😀 *huggles your comment and fangirls with you*

Thank you very muchly! I shall try! ^_^ (And heheheh, I’m not sure that would go over very well even if there WAS… but I appreciate the thought! XD)

  4. Oh, sorry you’re sick! But hey, at least the sickness generated this post of absolute awesomeness :D. It’s official (if it wasn’t already): I NEED to read Howl’s Moving Castle. With how much you and Christine rave about it, it must be amazingly good, and these quotes seem to prove that fact :D.

    • I actually love the movie too — so adorbz and awesome! It’s sooo different than the book though. And I like the book better, but I STILL love the movie too, which is super rare for movie adaptions that are different than beloved books. XD (But yesss, you should read the book — you’d love it!!)
      Thank you! ^_^

  5. Nyaw that’s the spirit. Use something not so good to make and excuse to fangirl. I see what you did there. 😉 I haven’t ready Howl’s Moving Castle, but I have seen the movie and I love it. ^ ^ Feel better!

YES TO ALL THE THINGS YOU SAID!!! 😀 Howl is absolutely the best, YESS. ❤ And all the others too! ^_^ But AWK you make me so happy squealing about Howl's Moving Castle! 😀 I've been soooo tempted to read it twice in a row at least but haven't yet… But I have read it like three times, just spread out. XD That's so cool you read it three times in a row like that! XD If there's ONE book a person could/would do that with, it's HMC. <333 *fangirls with you*
